This is an acutal place in the Dempster Region of Yukon called Blackstone Creek and Pilot's Butte. Two caribou are crossing the stream and it is high summer. I have always found the quality of the light in the Dempster Region to be unreal and fantastic and luminous.The original painting is held in a private collection in Yukon.
